Starting Illustration Futures

For illustration futures we've only got one pretty big task to complete. I've paired up with the lovely Holly and I now have to create a big promotion to advertise her to a possible flat mate! Fortunately, Holly's one of my closest friends and she's an utter doll and I've got lots of ideas of how I'm going to throw it together!

Firstly, Holly and I sat down and wrote down everything we know about each other and lots of things we didn't know. We listed each other's hobbies, favourite films, books, artists and other things such as likes, pets and what we could use as a unique selling point for each other. I'm not sure what Holly chose for me but I found out she can cross one eye without crossing the other! I thought this could be a really fun design I could create into a little logo that appeared on each little thing that was created for the project. I thought it would be good as it would be fun and defiantly as a logo would be easily recognisable and memorable!

I then started to look at what I could create for "The Holly files" as I shall refer to them. I looked at how I could present everything, I like the idea of it all being contained in a mannar that could easily be stored by the person who has it and would not take up too much space. As Holly loves her illustration, books and have aspirations in publishing I thought that containing everything in something the size of a typical hard back book would be perfect. I'm currently deciding weather to physically alter a book that Holly likes to contain all of the parts for the promotion/advertising pack or weather to create a sectioned box that looks like a book from the outside.

A practise cube Holly!
I've also started to look at what I could contain in the box. I think I will have some sort of paper craft in there for the handler to create and make themselves. I think I would like to make a cube template of Holly that the person could colour in and create. Also, as I'd like to keep Alfie the rabbit involved as well I'd like to create him in to a "Holly mascot" and create a rabbit origami template and maybe a 3-D cuddly keyring as well. I'd also like to have lots of paper promotion things inside such as postcards and posters. These would be created both by hand drawings and digitally to fit in with the project brief. Finally, the other idea I am very keen to put into pack would be a short animation of Holly that I could make. I would really like to use stop motion animation - but I am a pretty rubbish animator so we shall see how this pans out!
